From the fair county of Yorkshire there hailed two men, one in the prime and beauty of youth, the other….older..
Both beloved by those slavishly devoted to both the man and the brand, both lauded and worshipped wherever they went and both amassing a fortune beyond the dreams of the many. both now facing the demise of this stage of their glittering careers
But therein the similarities end..
The younger, beautiful Yorkshire man has by stepping down shown great courage, not the courage of battle, although I can only assume that living a life under siege from those whose love is so all consuming and obsessive must seem like being embattled at times.
The young man has realised that to save himself he has to step down, that if he doesn’t want to join the infamous 27 club he has to act now. And I for one applaud him for that.
The older and in no way beautiful Yorkshire man how ever is facing the demise of this part of his also glittering career because of hubris and arrogance.. He is a man who it would seem sees nothing as sacrosanct, with his casual bigotry dressed up as laddish humour, it would seem his arrogance extends to ill treatment of his ‘underlings’when things don’t go his way.
In weeks that have seen his acolytes wielding a huge petition, grown men and women excusing his dreadful behaviour perhaps it is time the general public took a good look at themselves, being an enfant terrible is far from attractive in childhood, in an over indulged middle aged man it becomes entirely ugly.
